ELVI label
ELVI label is Finland’s first independent animal welfare certificate. It helps the consumer make an animal welfare-friendly choice when purchasing food products. ELVI label has strict requirements with a strong scientific base.
Independence
ELVI label is controlled and supervised by independent Finwelfare Ltd., which is led by a board consisting of an assembly of top experts in animal welfare science.
Reliability
The overall welfare of animals on farms under the ELVI contract is monitored annually using a variety of scientific welfare measurement methods.
Open to all
ELVI label is open to all operators whose contract producers meet the ELVI criteria.

Freedom to move indoors and outdoors
On ELVI farms, animals move freely without being tethered. Animals have regular outdoor access and special attention is paid to their lying comfort.

Elvi-labelled products can be purchased in Lidl and Kesko stores and in some S-group markets. The label is used on Lidl's Ilona milk and yoghurt, Arla's Free and Grazing Cows and organic products and now also in Maitomaa milk and yoghurt.
